Arsenal to finish the season in ..... place. Podolski, Barcelona and more.

It’s Wednesday, so we have made it to the middle of the week, Hurray!! Unfortunately, for only the second time this year, we don’t have a mid week match. Great for the players some of whom could probably do with a little rest, not so great for us though, as we have to wait to watch our team again. Boooo.

There are some photos going around taken from Lukas Podolski’s twitter account showing us how (relatively) new-to-London footballers can spend their days off. And there was me thinking footballers spent all their money on fast cars and expensive women. Good for Poldi, I think he is settling in to the team well. Him being subbed off after 70 minutes in almost every match is still a mystery, but his goals and assists stats are good, especially seeing as football matches only last 70 minutes for him.

I also came across a nice reminder of a match we won at home a couple of seasons ago today. It was against a little known club from a small seaside town in the north east of spain. http://www.arsenal.com/news/features/arsenal-2-1-barcelona? I was at the match and it was a one of the best atmospheres our new stadium has experienced. I would put it up there with Henry scoring on his return against Leeds and us beating spurs 5-2 twice last year. There have been other excellent nights at the new ground but for me those stand out.

There is not much other Arsenal news and instead of following the lead of other articles who are talking about summer transfers... seriously?!? The January window has just closed, there is nothing anyone can do now!! I have thought about the points we have and the points we need until the end of the season.

Currently we are in 5th, 4 points behind (the chavs) spurs. We are 5 points behind (the chavs MKii) Chelski. And we are 2 points ahead of Everton. So how does our run in compare to the others? spurs have not lost a match in 10, including 6 wins and 4 draws, but have they got a more challenging run in? What about Everton, they normally start the season poorly but have a strong finish, will that be in reverse this season? Chelski have looked good in patches this season but will they be able to hold on to their lead?

I obviously don’t have the answers to these questions and I can’t see into the future. I also haven’t done much research into the performances of other teams and how injuries etc might be effecting them. I have simply gone on what i have seen and what I guess will happen. I might stick a quid on them all coming in just to see how much I would win if they all do. But I certainly wont be re-mortgaging so I can lump the lot on a dead cert.

As you can see, if my predictions come in, chelski will finish in 3rd, we will finish 4th, spurs will choke their way into 5th and Everton will finish 6th.

I admit my Arsenal predictions are a little rose tinted but I do think spurs have more challenging matches than us. Please feel free to comment on my predictions, your favourite moment at The Emirates, or anything else brought up in the blog.

I think @snipster will be including his predictions in tomorrows blog. So I look forward to us winning the league in that, ha ha ha ha.

Im back on Saturday morning for the podcast “we’re on our way” and see some of you for a pint before the match.

See ya
